THE CHALLENGE
The Christian Leaders Tertiary Training College is located in the remote highlands of Papua New Guinea, approximately one hour from Mt Hagen.
The campus faced ongoing energy challenges due to unreliable grid supply and heavy reliance on diesel generation. Frequent power outages, damaging voltage fluctuations and the high cost of transporting diesel created a significant operational burden. Reliable electricity is essential for powering classrooms, student accommodation and campus facilities.

The College required a dependable and sustainable energy solution to reduce operating costs while ensuring reliable power for daily operations.

OUR SOLUTION
​​
Unlimited Energy Australia designed a renewable energy system including Tesvolt battery energy storage technology to support the College’s transition toward reliable renewable energy.
Stage 1: Solar Generation
The project began with the installation of 280 solar panels, which has since expanded to more than 1,000 panels as solar became the campus’s primary energy source.
Stage 2: Battery Storage
The College installed a Tesvolt TS I HV 80 160kW / 160kWh battery energy storage system, including:

• Tesvolt 160kWh battery capacity (20 × 8.0kWh HV1500 modules)
• Integrated Tesvolt PCS Industry inverter
• Pre-wired Tesvolt backup control system
​
The system immediately stabilised campus power and reduced diesel generator reliance.
​
Stage 3: Expanded Battery System
The most recent phase added a second 160kWh TS I HV 80 system, bringing the total storage capacity to:

160kW / 320kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
​
The expanded system maximises solar self-consumption, improves hybrid PV diesel performance and ensures reliable power across the campus.
