WAYFINDER WINERY & FARM
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOLUTION POWERING WINERY & FARM'S SUSTAINABLE OFF GRID VISION

off-grid
PROJECT OVERVIEW

Wayfinder Winery & Farm, located in the heart of Margaret River, is part of Overstory’s wider mission to build a resilient, sustainable agricultural estate powered entirely by renewable energy. From the outset, Overstory set an ambitious direction for the development: 100% renewable energy generation and long term energy independence.

Unlimited Energy Australia was engaged in 2022 to lead a comprehensive pre-feasibility study into renewable energy solutions for the site. Over two years, UEA progressed this work into a full feasibility study and Stage 1 detailed design.

OUR SOLUTION

Unlimited Energy Australia played a critical engineering and advisory role throughout the project, delivering:

-
Pre-Feasibility Study assessing renewable energy solutions
-
Full Feasibility Study defining optimal sizing and configuration of Solar PV + BESS
-
Stage 1 detailed design of the renewable energy system
-
Commissioning support to ensure system performance aligned with design intent

Our objective was to engineer a system that provides reliability today and supports Wayfinder’s long-term vision: an off-grid, low-carbon, energy-resilient estate.
The Engineered System
Our detailed design defined a robust, reliable renewable energy hub built around:

-
302 kW / 300 kW Solar PV array
-
240 kW / 240 kWh Tesvolt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Installed by Innovative Energy Systems, Stage 1 of the system now provides the estate with clean, reliable power suitable for immediate operations and future commercial growth as the estate expands its viticulture operations, winery production facility, cellar door, and hospitality venues.
Commissioning
The renewable energy system designed by Unlimited Energy Australia was successfully commissioned in November 2025, marking a significant milestone in Wayfinder’s long-term sustainability roadmap.

Pathway to full off Grid Operations
Wayfinder intends to continue expanding the renewable energy system as it's operations evolve and grow, with the long term goal of operating completely off grid and reducing reliance on backup generators to a minimum.

About the Estate
Wayfinder Winery & Farm embodies Overstory’s commitment to environmental stewardship - integrating renewable energy, sustainable land care and regenerative agricultural principles.

The winery and production facility will be operational for vintage in early 2026, with the cellar door and restaurant set to open mid-2026.
